Ames March for Democracy: Defend Our Future

March for Democracy: Defend Our Future

Join a coalition of non-partisan groups, including Indivisible Ames, Democracy Every Day, and the League of Women Voters of Ames and Story County, as we gather to defend our democratic values. We will gather on the lawn north of the Campanile at Iowa State University.

Our constitutional rights are under attack: We are witnessing a systematic dismantling of the freedoms that define our democracy and freedoms. We rally to defend:

• 1st Amendment: The freedom of speech, assembly, and a free press
• 2nd Amendment: The right to bear arms
• 4th Amendment: Protection against unreasonable search and seizure
• 5th Amendment: The right to due process
• 14th Amendment: Equal protection under the law and birthright citizenship
• Voting Rights: The fundamental right to choose our leaders
• Worker Protections: The right to fair wages, safe conditions, and to unionize
• AND SO MUCH MORE

Bring your signs. Bring your voices. Be ready to march if you are able. March Route: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1sETTbJEM1czkH592l-B7N8auvDIuSrFx/view?usp=sharing
We do this for our elders, our workers, our students, and our children.

Let’s show that Ames stands together for democracy.

Parking can be hard on campus, public transit/carpooling is encouraged
